Countess of Rothesay's Twin Babies

$495.00

These two twin babies are a hand-carved and hand-painted recreation inspired by Queen Victoria’s series of dolls.

Both feature one piece jointed legs and floating joint wood stub arms. The costumes, inspired by the originals, are in keeping with our costume specifications; both are made from 100% natural fabrics. One is dressed in silk satin and the other in a simpler cotton gown. Speculation is the one in silk is the heir apparent to the throne.

The twins are the twin babies of a Countess of Rothesay that the Princess named Alice. The dynastic title is that of the heir apparent to the throne in the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland. (Today’s current Duchess of Rothesay is William's wife Catherine, Princess of Wales.)

Babies measure 2.5” inches long without the costume and made in a limited edition of 50 pairs. The baby boy has slightly darker brown hair and a single wavy curl in the middle of his forehead, while the girl has tiny pin curls framing her face.

Since each doll is hand painted, there will be small variations in each doll.

Each doll is signed by Charles Carver, the artist, and comes in its own decorated box with a laser engraved certificate of authenticity.
