Lady Gertrude Arnold

$695.00

Lady Gertrude Arnold is a hand-carved and hand-painted recreation inspired by Queen Victoria’s imaginary series of dolls, although perhaps Victoria based them on real people she observed at Kensington palace or during one of her visits to the theatre.

“Lady Arnold is a matronly, majestic lady wearing dark green velvet and a goodly quantity of jewelry.” A miniature amber perfume bottle has been placed around the doll's neck and a gilt bird in its left hand.”

-Frances Low

Lady Arnold was dressed by 'Everett', probably a relative or a family friend.

She measures 6 3/4” inches tall, is fully jointed and has a tuck comb in her dainty hair. Costumed in an antique flannel petticoat, silk velvet, cotton netting and trimmed in 100% silk ribbon. Like the original this little lady carries an amber perfume bottle and holds a gilded bird.

Lady Gertrude Arnold is signed and made in a limited edition of 50. Since each doll is hand painted, there will be small variations in each doll.

Each doll is signed by Charles Carver, the artist, and comes in its own excelsior-filled decorated box with a laser engraved certificate of authenticity.

If you purchase the pair of Mr. and Mrs. Arnold, the price is $1300 for the pair. Discount will be applied during checkout.
