Martha, the Housekeeper

$695.00

Martha, the Housekeeper is a hand-carved and hand-painted recreation inspired by Queen Victoria’s imaginary series of dolls, although perhaps Victoria based them on real people she observed at Kensington palace or during one of her visits to the theatre.

Martha is possibly one of the earliest dolls in the collection and definitely the largest at 9 inches tall. Our Martha measures the same height as all our Queen Victoria inspired dolls and stands at 6 3/4” tall.

She is fully jointed and has the slimmer earlier body with an empire waist. Costumed in fabrics of 100% natural fiber, she has a rather pensive and serious matronly look and harkens to a time when everyone in the manor would dare not challenge the head housekeeper!

Martha is signed and made in a small limited edition. Since each doll is hand painted, there will be small variations in each doll.

Each doll is signed by Charles Carver, the artist, and comes in its own excelsior-filled decorated box with a laser engraved certificate of authenticity.
