Miss Arnold
This young Miss Arnold is a hand-carved and hand-painted recreation inspired by Queen Victoria’s series of imaginary characters invented or read about in a book.
The Arnold family make up half the imaginaries, and this young Miss Arnold is one of the five costumed variations of Lady Arnold. She is also the favorite doll of writer Frances Low. He writes that she is, “the most loveable creature in the whole collection... She is just a sweet, natural young girl - a gentlewoman every inch of her. You forget for an instant about wooden joints and painted cheeks; and peering beneath her coal-scuttle bonnet, look eagerly for the fair and serious face that goes alongwith this Puritan maiden.”
Miss Arnold was dressed by her Royal Majesty’s governess, Baroness Louise Lehzen.
Our rendition of Miss Arnold measures 6 3/4” inches tall and features a lightweight silk voile dress with old lace, a beautifully recreated silk organza cape, and a fabulously recreated straw hat with silk ribbons. She is is fully jointed and is made in a limited edition of 50.
Since each doll is hand painted, there will be small variations in each doll.
Each doll is signed by Charles Carver, the artist, and comes in its own decorated box with a laser engraved certificate of authenticity.
