Monsieur Musard

$695.00

Monsieur Musard is a hand-carved and hand-painted recreation inspired by Queen Victoria’s series of dolls.

Monsieur Musard was named after a famous musician who wrote music for Queen Victoria and Albert. While dressed as a clown, he also carries a guitar to represent his musical leanings. He has short curls framing his face and a very distinctive nose just like the original!

The writer Frances Low writes that he is, ”the only doll with an unmistakable man’s face,” and is dressed in, “the brightest of silk pantaloons...and a fascinating little lace frill.” Monsieur Musard was dressed by Princess Victoria.

Our rendition of the Monsieur Musard measures 6 3/4” inches tall and is fully jointed and made in a limited edition of 50.

Since each doll is hand painted, there will be small variations in each doll.

Each doll is signed by Charles Carver, the artist, and comes in its own decorated box with a laser engraved certificate of authenticity.
