Mr. George Knightley

$1,295.00

Mr. George Knightley is inspired by an early circa 1810 Grodnertal with an elongated torso perfect for Empire waist dresses, shapely lower arms with modeled fingers and a separate thumb, and painted boots. Mr. Knightley has a boyish youthful appearance and a quirky profile with a pert upturned nose.

Carved and painted by Charles Carver and dressed by Alicia Carver, he comes in his fine gentleman's 1810's Italian wool tailcoat and wool top hat. The costume includes a gentleman’s button shirt, cream wool pants, a tailcoat, a tissue silk vest and a cream organdy cravat.

He comes in a wooden box with his artwork on the cover and his round wooden COA. The wooden dog cane is sold separately.

Mr. Knightley is one of two central characters from Jane Austen’s 1815 Emma and the main character's lifelong friend.

In the last few pictures, he is pictured with his companion, Emma, who is available in a separate listing.

***Please know that each doll is hand-carved and painted and there will be minor variations in the completed doll. He is finished in old world Shellack as were the original Grodnertals and thus has a slightly glossy finish. If you prefer the more matte finish, please request that at the time of purchase.”
