Silk Spencer Jacket
This is a lined silk spencer jacket decorated iwth yards of ruched silk and a real mother of pearl button on a metal base. Featured here on Emma but also may be worn by Lizzy. A short jacket that ended just under the bosom and either with short or long sleeves, the spencer jacket was a staple of a Regency lady’s wardrobe. They could be worn indoors as well as out.
The hat is listed separately but this jacket can be worn with a straw hat for a more casual afternoon promenade.
